First in Fitness decided to direct their fundraising efforts this year toward Central Vermont Medical Center’s National Life Cancer Treatment Center and recently handed President and CEO Judy Tarr a check for $6,400.
First in Fitness developed a series of events that ran from April 9 through April 11. These included a tennis tournament, racquetball social, swim-a-thon, aqua boot camp, spinning marathon, a mini-stage triathlon and a power lifting meet as well as a silent auction.
According to Dave Pickel, Executive Director for First in Fitness, “The Fundraiser was a huge success! The First in Fitness family, employees and members, donated their time, energy and money in an effort to make a difference. It was great to see our community support this worthwhile cause and have a great time while doing it. Giving is a simple act of kindness, something as simple as your time can be just as valuable as a monetary donation.”
David extends special thanks “to Corporate Sponsors: Casella Waste Management, Northfield Savings Bank and Denis, Ricker & Brown. The National Life Cancer Treatment Center is a blessing to Central Vermonters.” He also encourages community members to “go to their website (cvmc.org) in order to make your tax-deductible donation to the Cancer Center today.”
Judy Tarr was equally enthusiastic about the fundraiser. “First in Fitness is a great neighbor. We really appreciate their efforts on our behalf.”
Mike Woodfield, Owner of First in Fitness summed it up, “We are very pleased to help support the work of the CVMC National Life Cancer Treatment Center. I was very impressed by our tour. The center offers state of the art treatment facilities and a great staff. Local patients and their families will benefit from excellent care close to home.”
